Long-Tube Headers for the 5.0 Fox Body
These are direct-fit exhaust headers built for the Fox Body Mustang's 5.0L V8, covering GT, LX and SVT Cobra models from 1982 through 1993 (1984 is excluded, since that model year used a different factory exhaust routing than the rest of the run). If your stock manifolds are cracked at the flange, rusted through after years outdoors, or just holding back a 302 that could breathe a lot easier, this header set bolts up to the factory exhaust system without any cutting or custom fabrication.
What These Headers Replace
The cast-iron exhaust manifolds Ford put on the 5.0 Mustang are restrictive by design and prone to cracking, especially right at the flange where years of heating and cooling eventually take their toll. These headers swap that cast iron for computer mandrel-bent T-304 stainless tubing, which keeps a consistent inside diameter through every bend instead of pinching the flow path the way cheap crush-bent tubing does. The Fox Body platform ran from 1979 to 1993 and is still one of the most widely modified Mustang generations on the road, so parts built for it, this header set included, are made for a market that knows exactly what it's bolting on and why.
Key Features
- Mandrel-bent T-304 stainless steel tubing for consistent, unrestricted flow
- CNC-machined flanges, TIG-welded to the primary tubes for a tight seal at the head
- Resists the rust-through that eventually takes out factory cast-iron manifolds
- Bolts up to the stock exhaust system on applicable years — no fabrication needed

Compatibility
Built for 1982-1993 Ford Mustang V8 models — GT, LX and SVT Cobra — fitted with the 5.0L (302) V8 only. This isn't a match for the 2.3L four-cylinder or 3.8L V6 Fox Body cars, and 1984 model-year Mustangs are excluded because that year used a different exhaust configuration than the rest of the range. If you're working from a parts-swapped or modified engine bay and aren't sure which manifold pattern you actually have, it's worth double-checking against your old manifolds before ordering, or reaching out to us first.
Why Owners Upgrade
Most people replacing these headers aren't chasing a dyno sheet — they're dealing with a manifold that's finally cracked at the collector or rusted through after fifteen-plus years of daily driving or sitting in a garage through hot summers and cold winters. A stainless header lasts long enough that this is usually a one-time job rather than something you're revisiting every few years. The flow improvement over cast iron is real too, and it's especially noticeable if the car already has a cat-back exhaust and a decent intake that could use less backpressure feeding into them from the front of the system. A lot of Fox Body owners also just like the deeper, slightly rawer exhaust note that comes with ditching the factory manifolds, even before any other exhaust work is done.
Installation Notes
Header swaps on a Fox Body are a well-documented job in the Mustang community — expect to unbolt the old manifolds, disconnect the O2 sensor if your car has one wired into the stock manifold, and work carefully around the steering shaft and shock tower on the driver's side, which is the tightest clearance point on most 5.0 Mustangs. New gaskets and header bolts are worth having on hand, since reusing old manifold hardware under new thermal stress is a good way to end up with a stripped or snapped bolt in the head. Give the new flange bolts a re-torque after the first few heat cycles, too — it's a small step that saves a lot of chasing exhaust leaks down the road.
