Collection: Mack Truck Parts

Mack Truck Parts for Sale

This page lists the Mack truck parts we sell. The current range is headlight assemblies: a chrome pair for the Mack Granite GU713 and a halogen headlight for the right passenger side of Mack semi trucks. Both can be ordered online from this page, and each product page lists the model, side and finish.

Mack trucks work in some of the hardest jobs on the road, from construction sites to long-haul routes. The Granite in particular is a vocational truck that spends its days on gravel, dust and building sites. Headlights take a lot of punishment there, and cracked or cloudy lenses are a common repair.

Below are the parts with their specs, how to choose the right lamp, fitting and aiming tips, care advice and answers to frequent questions.

Choosing the Right Mack Headlight

  1. Model. Mack models such as the Granite, Pinnacle, Anthem and Vision use different headlights. Our chrome pair is for the Granite GU713.
  2. Side or pair. Right passenger side means the right-hand side on a left-hand drive truck. If both lamps are aged, replace them together for even light.
  3. Halogen or LED. Halogen lamps use replaceable bulbs and cost less. LED lamps last longer and give a whiter light.
  4. Road approval. Check that the lamp meets the rules where your truck is registered, such as DOT/SAE in North America or ECE marks in many other regions.

Fitting and Aiming

  1. Park on level ground and set the brakes. Tilt the hood if you need access to the mounts.
  2. Disconnect the wiring and remove the mounting hardware.
  3. Fit the new lamp and reconnect the wiring with a little dielectric grease on the connector.
  4. Test low and high beam, and any marker or signal lights in the assembly.
  5. Aim the lamps against a wall on level ground so the low beam cut-off sits just below lamp centre height, following your truck and country specifications.

For the history of the company and its trucks, see the Mack Trucks article on Wikipedia.

Care Tips for Work Trucks

  • Wash dust and mud off lenses daily on site work. Dust is abrasive and dulls the lens over time.
  • Use mild soap and water, not solvents.
  • Check for cracks after every job site with flying stones.
  • Keep mounting bolts tight, because rough ground loosens them.

Mack Truck Models

Mack Trucks, part of the Volvo Group, has built heavy trucks for well over a century, and the bulldog on the hood is one of the best-known badges in trucking. Mack's modern range is split between vocational and highway trucks. The Granite is Mack's vocational workhorse, used for dump, mixer, refuse and construction work. The Pinnacle was a long-running highway and regional haul model, and the Anthem took over as Mack's main highway truck from the late 2010s. Earlier generations include the Vision and CH highway trucks and the RD and DM vocational trucks. The TerraPro and LR are Mack's low-cab-forward models for refuse work. Each model uses its own headlights and many unique body parts, so knowing your exact model matters. Our Mack Granite GU713 chrome headlights pair is made for the Granite GU713, and the Mack halogen headlight, right passenger side is a factory-style replacement; check its listed models against your truck.

The Granite: Built for Hard Work

The Granite works on construction sites, quarries, landfills and city streets, which is tough on its front end. Headlights and lenses take hits from stones and debris, and the vibration of rough ground is hard on bulbs and mounts. On a vocational truck, it pays to check the headlights and their mounting bolts often, keep spare bulbs for halogen lamps, and replace a cracked lens before water and dust get inside. The GU713 designation refers to a specific Granite axle-forward configuration, and the GU813 is another common Granite version. Headlights can differ between configurations, so match the model code on your truck's paperwork or data plate.

Halogen or LED for Work Trucks

Halogen headlights are simple and cheap to repair, since you can change just the bulb. LED headlights cost more up front but last much longer, use less power and cope better with vibration, which suits vocational trucks that work off-road. If you choose LED, make sure the assembly is approved for road use where you drive, plugs into your harness, and does not cause a lamp-out warning. On work sites with dust and mud, a bright, white LED beam can make a real difference at dawn and dusk.

Protecting Lights on Job Sites

  • Clean the headlight lenses regularly; a layer of dust and mud can cut light output dramatically.
  • Use a soft brush and plenty of water, not a dry rag, to avoid scratching the lens.
  • Check the mounting bolts after working on rough ground, because vibration loosens them.
  • Look for water inside the lamp after pressure washing, and keep the washer nozzle away from lens seams.
  • Consider headlight guards where approved, if your truck works in areas with flying stones.

Wiring and Connectors

Many headlight problems on older trucks are caused by the wiring rather than the lamp. Corroded connectors, loose grounds and chafed wires near the hood hinge cause flickering, dim lights or lamps that work only sometimes. Before buying a new headlight, check the connector for green corrosion, wiggle the wires while the lights are on, and test the ground connection. Clean the connector with contact cleaner and use a little dielectric grease when you plug in the new lamp.

Fitting and Aiming

Switch off the lights and disconnect power before you start. On many Mack trucks the headlights sit in the hood or fender, so you may need to tilt the hood forward safely and support it. Unplug the lamp, remove the fasteners and lift it out. Fit the new lamp, test low and high beams, then aim the lights on level ground following the service manual. Recheck the aim after any front suspension or cab mount work.

Shared Volvo Group Parts

Since Mack and Volvo trucks belong to the same group, many modern Mack trucks use Mack-badged engines and transmissions that share technology with Volvo's, such as the mDRIVE automated transmission, which is related to Volvo's I-Shift. Lighting and body parts, however, are usually specific to Mack. When ordering, use the Mack part number or your VIN rather than assuming a Volvo part will fit.

Daily Checks for Mack Drivers

  • All headlights, fog lights and marker lights working.
  • Lenses clean and uncracked.
  • Mirrors adjusted and secure.
  • No air leaks, fluid leaks or loose parts at the front of the truck.
  • Tyres and wheel nuts checked.

A quick daily walk-around catches small problems before they become roadside violations or breakdowns.

Why Matched Pairs Matter

When one headlight fails on an older truck, replacing just that side leaves one bright, clear lamp next to a dull, faded one. The beams then differ in colour and reach, which makes night driving more tiring. Replacing headlights as a pair, as with our Granite chrome pair, gives even lighting and a matching appearance.

Mack Anthem and Pinnacle Highway Trucks

For highway work, Mack's Pinnacle served for many years as its main on-highway model, offered as a day cab and with sleepers in axle-forward and axle-back configurations. The Anthem took over in the late 2010s with a more aerodynamic design and a redesigned interior. Each uses its own headlights, grilles and hood parts. If you need lighting for a Pinnacle or Anthem, match the part number on your existing headlight, since the Granite headlights in this collection will not fit these highway models.

Mack Engines and Drivetrain

Modern Mack trucks use Mack's MP7 and MP8 diesel engines, and the mDRIVE automated manual transmission is common on newer trucks. Older trucks used Mack E7 and other engines and a wide range of manual transmissions. Engine service parts such as filters, belts and sensors depend on the engine model, which is shown on a plate or sticker on the engine. Check the engine model before ordering any engine part.

Vocational Trucks and Electrical Durability

Vocational trucks like the Granite face water, mud, salt and constant vibration, all of which are hard on electrical parts. Headlight connectors, ground straps and wiring near the front of the truck are the most exposed. Protect connections with dielectric grease, keep wiring clipped away from moving parts, and check the ground connections at the frame regularly. A clean, tight ground fixes many flickering-light problems.

Why Headlight Housings Crack

Truck headlight housings can crack from stone impacts, from stress if the mounting bolts are overtightened, or from the hood flexing on rough ground. A cracked housing lets water in, which fogs the lens and damages the bulb or LEDs. When fitting a new headlight, tighten the mounting bolts evenly and only to the specified torque, and check that the lamp sits square without being forced.

Off-Road and Job Site Lighting

Many vocational trucks also carry work lights, beacons and light bars for job site safety. These are separate from the road headlights and are usually controlled by their own switches. Rules on light colours and use on public roads vary, so make sure work lights and beacons are switched off on the road unless your local rules allow them.

Refuse and Construction Fleets

Mack trucks are a common sight in refuse collection and construction fleets. These trucks stop and start hundreds of times a day, idle for long periods and work in dirty conditions, which puts extra stress on lights, starters, batteries and charging systems. Refuse trucks in particular depend on working lights for safety, because crews work around them in the dark early morning. Fleet managers should check lights daily, keep spare bulbs and lamps in stock, and replace faded lenses before they become a safety issue. Our factory-style halogen headlight makes quick swaps easy.

Upgrading Older Mack Headlights

Older Mack trucks with sealed beam headlights or dated halogen lamps can benefit from modern replacements. When upgrading, make sure the new lamp fits the existing bucket or housing, uses the same connector or comes with an adapter, and is approved for road use. Upgrading both sides together keeps the light even. If the truck has a lot of wiring corrosion, fixing the wiring first gives the new lamps the best chance.

Seasonal Lighting Care

In winter, road salt and slush coat the front of the truck, dimming the headlights and corroding connectors. Clean the lenses at every fuel stop in bad weather, and rinse the front end thoroughly after salted roads. In summer, bug residue builds up quickly on highway runs; clean it off before it bakes onto the lens. Check the headlight aim at the start of each winter, when long nights make good lighting most important.

Mack and the Bulldog Tradition

Mack trucks have a reputation for toughness, and many owners keep their trucks for years. Taking care of the front end, from the grille to the headlights, keeps the truck looking and working the way it should. Chrome headlight housings, like our Granite pair, suit trucks with chrome bumpers and trim.

Getting the Right Part First Time

Before ordering, write down your truck's model, model code, year and the number on your existing headlight. Compare them with the product listing and photos. If anything does not match, contact us before ordering. Getting it right first time saves the cost and downtime of returns.

Mack Granite Configurations Explained

The Granite has been built in several configurations, identified by codes such as GU713, GU813 and others. The letters and numbers describe the model family, the axle position and the size or weight class. An axle-forward configuration places the front axle further forward, which helps meet bridge-weight rules for certain loads in some regions, while an axle-back configuration places it further back for tighter turning. These differences can affect the front bumper, the fenders and, in some cases, the lighting. Our Granite GU713 chrome headlights are listed for the GU713; owners of other Granite configurations should check the shape and mounting of their headlights against our photos.

Headlight Brightness and Colour

Halogen headlights give a warm, slightly yellow light. LED headlights usually give a cooler, whiter light that many drivers find makes road markings and signs easier to see. Very blue light can increase glare in rain and fog, so a neutral white is often the best choice. Whatever you choose, make sure both lamps match and are aimed properly. Our halogen headlight suits owners who prefer a factory look and easy bulb replacement.

Electrical Load on Work Trucks

Vocational trucks often run work lights, beacons, hydraulic pumps and other equipment that draw heavily on the electrical system. Switching to LED lighting reduces the load on the alternator and batteries, which can help trucks that spend long periods idling with lights on. If you add electrical equipment, check that the alternator and batteries can handle the total load, and fuse every new circuit correctly.

Mack Parts Support

We stock Mack lighting and add parts as we source them. Many Mack trucks also share standard heavy-duty parts, such as filters, belts and starters, with other trucks using similar engines, so a part number search across brands can help. Keeping Vocational Mack Trucks Safe

Vocational Mack trucks often work in low light, early in the morning or late in the day, on job sites shared with workers and other machines. Good headlights and working marker lights help drivers see and be seen. Make lighting part of every pre-trip check, and replace faded or cracked lamps before they cause a safety problem or a failed inspection.
