If your truck bed's side gaps sit unused while your tools, camping gear, or off-road accessories take up space you'd rather keep clear, this swing-case style box puts that gap to work without touching your cargo area.

Why a Side-Mount Tool Box Makes Sense on a Short Bed Tacoma

A short bed Tacoma already has limited cargo space, so most owners are reluctant to give any of it up to a bulky toolbox that sits in the middle of the bed. By mounting directly into the factory wheel well curve on the passenger side, this box adds genuinely useful lockable storage without reducing the amount of open floor space you have for larger cargo.

Key Features

Tailored to the factory wheel well curve for a direct, no-modification fit

All-side MOLLE tactical grid panels for mounting pouches, tools, and outdoor gear

Dual anti-theft lock design with key lock, quick-release latch, and side deadbolt

Quick-release mounting bracket lets you detach the box for carrying gear on foot

Specifications

Type: Truck bed side storage tool box (SwingCase style)

Material: Reinforced steel with matte black powder coat

Placement: Passenger side, rear of bed

Attachment: Bolt-on

Fitment: 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma, 5-ft short bed

Condition: New

Compatibility

Built specifically for the passenger side of the 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma equipped with the 5-foot short bed, tailored to that bed's factory wheel well curve. Because this fitment is specific to the short bed and the passenger side, it's worth confirming your Tacoma's bed length and which side you need before ordering, since a long bed model or the driver's side will not match this box's mounting curve.

Signs This Tool Box Would Help

If you're constantly shuffling tools, straps, and gear around your bed to make room for larger cargo, or you've wanted a lockable spot for camping and off-road accessories without eating into your hauling space, this box addresses both. It's especially useful for anyone who tows a trailer, runs off-road, or camps regularly and needs a secure, weatherproof place for smaller gear that doesn't need to ride inside the cab. The all-side MOLLE panels also make it a natural fit for hunters and anglers who want quick-access mounting points for gear they use constantly throughout the day.

Why Secure, Out-of-the-Way Storage Matters

Loose tools and gear rattling around an open truck bed aren't just inconvenient, they're also exposed to weather and an easy target for theft when your truck is parked. A locking, weatherproof side box keeps smaller items secured and organized without requiring you to sacrifice bed space, which matters most when you're already hauling something larger on a work trip or camping run.

Installation Notes

Installing this tool box means bolting the mounting bracket into the factory wheel well area following the included hardware points, a process designed to require no cutting, drilling, or other modification to your truck bed. Because the box uses a quick-release mounting bracket, you can detach the whole unit in seconds once it's installed, which is worth testing right after installation to confirm the bracket is seated correctly. Checking that both the key lock and the side deadbolt engage smoothly is also worth doing before you load it with gear. Running the flip-top lid through a few open-and-close cycles beforehand also helps you get a feel for the latch before you're loading and unloading it on the trail.

Ordering Information

This tool box is in stock and ships ready to install.
